Save Parvo Puppies
Our Mission
To save mama dogs and their pups, provide care and enrichment, and find loving, forever homes.
ATR specializes in large-breed pregnant dogs and their pups who need time and space to grow and become socialized. Our dogs have significant social time with adults, children and other dogs, and we provide them with experiences that will help shape them into the very best pups they can be. Our mama dogs work with on site behaviorists to develop personalized programs to prepare them for life as your new forever family member. ATR is determined to give you all the information we know about our dogs so we can help find the perfect match for you. All of our dogs are altered, micro-chipped, and up-to-date on vaccines prior to adoption.
ATR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and receives no tax or government funding. We do not sell, rent, or share our supporter information with any other organizations or third parties.
This was supposed to be their happily ever after…
Recently, we took in two 10-month-old sisters from the same litter, who each had litters of their own. They appeared healthy upon intake, but we soon discovered they had Parvo, a deadly and incurable (but treatable) disease. We later discovered they were sick with other ailments as well, including Distemper, another deadly, incurable but treatable disease.
We lost some puppies early on. Then, some others presented with more advanced symptoms of Distemper. Two more presented with severe neurological issues… They seemed healthy one day and appeared to be dying the next. Soon after, two more puppies experienced similar hardships, and sweet mama River did too.
We made the decision to give each of them as gentle of a goodbye as we could. We took them to the vet and held each one until they crossed rainbow bridge. Then, we wrapped them gently in a soft blanket, kissed their little heads and left the vet empty handed.
We haven’t spared any resources in helping these sweet babies — regular vet visits, pricey meds, expensive hospital stays, around-the-clock care, administering regular subcutaneous fluids, syringe feeding — anything and everything we could do to help. Some responded well, but many didn’t make it. We have lost eight puppies and one mama. : (
We are devastated at this profound loss. But we are still fighting for the mama and pup who have shown us they still want to fight. We will do anything and everything we can to get them well. And if they are done fighting, we promise them a peaceful and loving send off. They deserve that and more.
It’s not the end for two of these pups, a mama and baby from different litters. They are currently in a foster home in the fight of their lives — for their lives. We desperately hope they’ll keep winning against the most terrible of diseases.
Mama Meadow lost all of her babies and her sister. Baby Creek lost all of his siblings and his mama. Yet, they continue to be strong and they continue to help each other.
They look to each other and the humans around them for support. We vow to be here for them every step of the way. So long as they are willing to fight, we are willing to fight with them. We will fight for them.
It isn’t easy and it isn’t cheap, but we are all in. We will never let an animal suffer due to cost of care. Ever. But this is taking a toll, and we could really use some help. If you are in a position to help us save these dogs, it would mean the world. <3
